Fly tipping in back lane
Residents continue to contact homeowners backing on to the lane to secure permission to gate and to raise the funding to put the gates in. I understand that currently they are still short of the amount needed and I continue to try to assist them in achieving gating which is the only way in which the tipping is going to be prevented..
Boverton Road
I am now pleased to report that the resurfacing of Boverton Road is expected to be completed before April. A better result than I dared to expect.
Buses: At the Community Engagement Forum residents had expressed concern particularly in respect of the number 10 bus and this has been raised by other communities along the route. The most up to date position at the moment is that the West of England Combined Authority, (WECA), which is the Transport Authority is conducting a review of bus services across the west of England and the number 10 is part of that so that is as much as I can say at this point in time. I thought that this would also be of interest to the Town Council
Lanes on Filton Roundabout I have secured an agreement for a change in the lining of the central lane of Filton roundabout too make it clear that it is for vehicles going straight across and not for turning right, unfortunately this has to wait until work is done on the roundabout or repainting of all of the lines is carried out. This is probably a good time to raise issues such as the value of the yellow box which concern was expressed about at the Forum
Massive Attack
A public notice has been published in respected of traffic management measures affecting Cleve Road and College Way in Filton, currently for 2 days but possibly for 3 depending on the number of concerts that are actually taking place and I am awaiting confirmation from the organisers about this. Importantly the the closures are intended to ensure access to and from the roads for residents preventing concert goers from using the roads for the purpose of parking. The road entrances will be patrolled by marshalls. this will be in the period from 1st March

I still have a number of issues outstanding that I have raised with officers concerning local roads needing re-surfacing and other issues raised with me by members of the public, some through our regular weekly surgeries.
I intend to report on some of these as they progress or don’t progress at the March meeting, as by that time I will have 1 month left of my years as a South Gloucestershire Councillor.
One of these is the condition of the road surface in Third Avenue, particularly in the area outside Shield Road School. I have raised this and I understand that it is on the priority list, but is unlikely to be done in 2019/20, more likely 2020/21. I have raised an issue with this and the engineer concerned has agreed to have a look at the current condition of the road to see if any repairs can be done.
This underlines what we have been battling with for years now, increasing cute from Government, increasing cuts by the Council and increasing issues in the number of potholes and roads needing attention. What is important to understand is that if Third Avenue is at least 12months away from repair, how bad are the roads that are a higher priority?
On the bright side is that we had a similar issue and similar answers in respect of Boverton and Meadowsweet and we made representations to SGC and were able to get them brought forward as we were “lucky” that they had deteriorated more than others in recent months!
Since the January meeting I have attended the following:
Saturday 2nd February I attended our regular weekly surgery Filton.
Thursday 7th February – I attended a meeting of the Strategic Sites Delivery Committee. This meeting considered several schemes put forward to improve the flood defences along the coast off New Passage Road and the A403 (Severn Road) Thornbury
Saturday 9th February – I attended our regular weekly surgery Filton.
Wednesday 13th February – I attended the last South Gloucestershire Full Council meeting of the 4 year term, the March meeting having been cancelled apparently through lack of business. Kingswood.
Saturday 16th February I attended our regular weekly surgery Filton
Saturday 23rd February – I attended our regular weekly surgery Filton
